It’s the end of the year and here we are with hats in hand….because…
WE ARE BACK!
Yes Yes Yes! We come to you again asking for a donation. Any size will do, but now that you mention it, the bigger the better!
Back you say? Well, we never truly disappeared, but it was shaky the last few years. I was burnt out from 20 years of scrapping and scraping to bring that beloved Circus Amok to your parks. We took some much needed time off. We scaled way back. We experimented with our set-up. Who needs a 20-foot box truck when you have a shiny van?! Maybe there are fewer costume changes and, yes, the band is playing acoustic, but WE ARE STILL DOING IT!
We figured out how to weather these harrowing times. We figured out how to bring grand glamorous political, sequined, genderqueer, smash the patriarchy, highly-skilled, circus theater, ALWAYS FREE to the people of NYC. It brought us hope, it brought our audiences giddiness, and we want to do that again and again and again. But we can’t do all that for nothing.
Now more than ever we need to fight the despair brought on by the brutality of the current administration. We are committed to organizing for action. We are committed to much needed breath, laughter, and invigoration. We are committed to raising your spirits — our beloved audience, our partners in festive revolution.
